I had a base there for a couple weeks and never saw a beaver. It s pve so nothing really can be done but i had a base at hidden lake and it didn t stop beavers from spawning they are likely not lying but either they have turrets that kill them when they spawn or they are using the beavers for a beaver dam farm. We used it to farm up meat for our raptors before moving inland and someone started a base there.
Hidden lake is also good hunting ground if you live nearby. Then again the same happened to our base on herbie island by a titan but we were done playing by then my fault for leaving dinosaurs on neutral. We tamed the giga and let it starve.
